Arrival at Lima airport, assistance from one of our representatives at the airport. Then transfer to the hotel located a few meters from the airport.

Day 02 / International Potato Center

Breakfast at the hotel.
In the morning, we will visit the International Potato Center, known by its Spanish acronym CIP, was founded in 1971 as a root and tuber research-for-development institution delivering sustainable solutions to the pressing world problems of hunger, poverty, and the degradation of natural resources. There are over 4,000 edible varieties of potato, mostly found in the Andes of South America. Potato is the third most important food crop in the world after rice and wheat in terms of human consumption. More than a billion people worldwide eat potato, and global total crop production exceeds 300 million metric tons.
Lunch in a local restaurant.
There will be a brief tour of the main attractions of the Historic Center of Lima such as the Main Square, the Cathedral, the Government Palace, mansions and churches. We will continue our visit to the Saint Domingo Church, it is a sacred place because it’s home to the remains of Saint Rose of Lima, Saint Martin de Porres, who was the first black saint in America. Return to hotel.

Day 03 / National Institute of Agrarian Innovation

Breakfast at the hotel
Early in the morning visit to the National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA), a public institution belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, is responsible for designing and implementing the national strategy for agricultural technological innovation in an inclusive and sustainable way. A brief explanation will be given by an engineer on the investigations carried out and the exhibition center will be visited. Then you will visit the Cuyo Farm where the three liberated races of cuy are shown: Peru, Inti and Andina.
Free time to have lunch in a local restaurant.
In the afternoon visit the Larco Museum located in an 18th century vice-royal mansion, built on a pre-Columbian pyramid of the 17th century, its new galleries display the best and most complete collection of gold and silver of Peru together with its famous collection of erotic pottery. Return to hotel.

Day 04 / Lima – Cusco – Sacred Valley

Breakfast at the hotel.
In the morning transfer to the airport to board your domestic flight to Cusco. Arrival, reception and transfer to visit Chincheros village, where you can participate in a brief exhibition of traditional textiles, distinctive feature of this town famous for the beauty and high quality of its fabrics and ancestral dyeing techniques.
Continue visiting the archeological complex of Moray, where you can see four slightly elliptical agricultural terraces, that the people call muyus. The largest structure is 45 meters / 148 feet deep, and the average height of each terrace is 2 meters / 3 feet. Many think that this place was an important agricultural experimentation center for the Incas. Through the use of concentric terraces and because the temperature is different in each of their level, all the ecological tiers found in the confines of the Tahuantinsuyo Empire would have been reproduced in this complex. Then Maras; these salt-mines have been used since the Tahuantinsuyo. The people channel the salt water that bubbles to the surface from a spring called Qoripujio towards men-made wells. From the exposure to the sun, the water evaporates, and the salt remains on the surface to be transported later to the market to be sold. The view of this complex of nearly 3000 wells is spectacular.
Lunch today will be a delicious pachamanca. Transfer to the hotel located in Sacred Valley.

Day 05 / Sacred Valley – Potato Park – Sacred Valley

Breakfast at the hotel.
Very early in the morning we will visit he Potato Park, you will see fields of native potato, handicrafts and medicinal plants workshops.
09:30 Hrs. Interpretation of the Potato Park as Indigenous Biocultural Heritage Area.
10:10 Hrs. Interpretation of Culture and Diversity in Native Potato.
10:40 Hrs. Tasting of native potatoes boiled with a variety of peppers.
11:00 Hrs. Exhibition on native potatoes and current adaptation to climate change.
11:20 Hrs. Trekking in Kinsa Qocha (Optional). Trekking lasts 30 minutes.
The day ends with a wonderful meal at a restaurant, where native hands prepare exquisite dishes based on hundreds of potato varieties, which come in all colors and shapes, resulting in thousands of flavors to enjoy. Finally, transfer to hotel located in Sacred Valley and rest afternoon at leisure.

Note: In Cusco, the potato-sowing season is from October to December, and the potato-harvesting season is from April to June.
The National Potato Day is May 30.

Day 06 / Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Breakfast at the hotel.
At appropriate time private transfer to Ollantaytambo Train Station and departure to Machu Picchu by Train, panoramic ride, this takes 1 hour and half. Arrival and transfer to the citadel by a shuttle bus service.
Afterwards, guided tour throughout the Sacred Citadel of Machu Picchu. The visit includes the Intihuatana (the Solar Clock), the Watchtower, the Incas Palace, the Three Windows etc. Free time to lunch (Not included).
By the afternoon, return to Ollantaytambo by train. At your arrival, reception and transfer by private car to Cusco.

Breakfast at the hotel.
At the appropriate time, we will transfer you to the airport to take your local flight and the connection with your international flight. (B)
